Poem: Come, my soul, thy suit prepare

While I was reading the book “Transforming Grace” (by Jerry Bridges), I came across a few beautiful verses of a hymn written by John Newton (the same guy who composed “Amazing Grace”). May these words minister to you as they did to me:

Come, my soul, thy suit prepare:
Jesus loves to answer prayer;
He Himself has bid thee pray,
Therefore will not say thee nay.

Thou art coming to a King,
Large petitions with thee bring;
For His grace and power are such,
None can ever ask too much.

– John Newton – Olney Hymns (London: W. Oliver, 1779)
