God’s kind of love: Experiential knowledge

Today I’d like to share a powerful prayer that the apostle Paul prayed over the ephesians. It has to do with truly experiencing the overwhelming love of God and the amazing results of having such an experience. It’s something that goes far beyond than just having mere head knowledge about it.

The Father’s love for us knows no limits. A deep ever-growing experience with His love is fundamental for having a fruitful life and for developing a powerful mountain moving faith (see Gl 5:6). Therefore I believe this is a prayer every child of God should be praying on an ongoing basis.

In Ephesians 3:16-19 (NLT), Paul prays that:

1) “From his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.”

2) “Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.”

3) “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.”

4) “May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

The final outcome of experiencing that amazing love is faith and confidence in a God who is able to do “by the power that is at work within us, superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]” (v. 20 – AMP). Praise God!
